Marshall McLuhan: The World is a Global Village

The emergence of new media and social media -- it has all looked fairly revolutionary, the beginning of something entirely new.

But, when you step back and consider it, these innovations mark perhaps just an acceleration of a trend that began long ago — one that Marshall McLuhan, the famed communication theorist, first outlined in the 1960s. The vintage clip above gives you a feel for this, and McLuhan himself appears at around the 2:45 minute mark. As you watch this video, you start to realize how prescient McLuhan was, and how social media is almost the logical fulfillment of the trend he saw emerging.

Prominent scholar from M.I.T. and experienced Egyptologist reviewed Plans of the Great Pyramid

"Prominent scholar from M.I.T. and experienced Egyptologist reviewed Plans of the Great Pyramid" - September 18, 2011 | Architecture | PubArticles.com

Marshall Payn, Engineer and experienced Egyptologist, reviewed Samuel Laboy’s presentation about his geometric Great Pyramid’s design plan. After an extensive analysis and evaluation of Laboy’s presentation, Payn expressed his endorsement and approval to his design and indicates it represents an outstanding and real “solution” to the well known pyramid’s geometrical design mystery. He said Laboy’s design constitute the first unique and real solution to this mystery, for the lasts millenniums.

Besides, Payn said that Engineer Laboy designed a geometrical dimensionless plan for a Great Pyramid’s model, independently from the Great Pyramid’s dimensions and properties, using no numbers, formulas or calculations. This dimensionless design seems curious and interesting. However, is when he calculates the dimensions created in his pyramid’s model, using just a single number, and compare every section with the Great Pyramid’s structure built by the Egyptian Engineers, that he definitely proves that both designs are exactly equal in all their sections.

This is something that never has been done before, and cannot be accounted as a theory. Anyone can do the same exercise and get the same results and conclusions. This discovery represents one of the most important findings about the Great Pyramid’s geometry in history. Payn said that this discovery calls for the mainstream Egyptology to review, rework and embrace it. It’s clear to him that more experiments, more books, and more TV demonstrations, will in the long run and finally, exposed this great discovery to the world.

Payn indicated that for 30 years, like so many others, he have examined theories on how the Egyptian pyramids were built and, like some, think they are all wrong. However, the engineer in him is bewildered as to the design process necessary for its building. Having been involved in such things he recognize the sophistication needed which in turn is no doubt why that subject has had such little attention.

Marshal Payn indicates that U.S. Egyptologists in general, are limited in knowledge about the physical sciences and about math, and that is why he have been unable to attract any of them, even good friends, to examine what he considers the most remarkable breakthrough in “Pyramidology” he had ever seen, in Laboy’s presentation.

He explains that Engineer Laboy, in his Report book, A Civil Engineer looks at the Great Pyramid, details the pyramid’s design, using nothing more than a compass and a straight edge and some hefty geometry. He develops every significant feature of, say, the Cheops pyramid; every chamber, every passageway, the height, the length, every angle, the shafts, right down to the “boss” in the antechamber. Once he professes how the height was determined to be 480.66 feet, his developed design uses this value to precisely calculate every dimension in the Great Pyramid’s structure. And I mean, with such accuracy so as to eliminate any chance that his methodology was not that of the pyramid's designers.

Here's where the intrigue comes in. By not using any more numbers, and he explains correctly that it doesn't matter what units are used---feet, meters, cubits, etc., incredibly, he develops every single dimension in the pyramid using only the mentioned unique value. The accuracy he computes cannot be believed until you struggle thru his book. Once he develops a length geometrically, he returns to the height, in whatever units, to determine the various other dimensions. I am telling you, he does it.

Payn has over 25 years in researching, especially the Egyptian pyramids. He said there are three fundamental questions: 1-How were they designed and where did this hi-tech sophisticated know-how come from? 2- How were they built? And 3- What were their purpose(s)? Anybody with technical training will reach the same conclusions that I have. Not only do we not have the answers, but every single theory put forth over the years is absolutely wrong and not anywhere close to being right.

The best and most logical answer to the first question may now be resolved and it's presented in thorough details by Samuel Laboy. It simply answers the first part of the first question, not with a theory, but with real mathematical an geometrical evidences, which definitely answers the mystery.

But like any paradigm breaker, it will never be accepted by Egyptology because of the very power of paradigm, or lack of knowledge of Egyptologists for mathematics, or design fundamentals. I estimate his work comprised 80 percent of geometry, 15 percent of general math and 5 percent of trigonometry.

Payn concluded saying that he was enthused with Laboy’s discovery and that it is the very first attempt he has ever seen to address enigmas lasting thousands of years. He encourages his colleagues in Egyptology and related sciences, to review and credit this historical and unparalleled finding by Samuel Laboy.
